: Given NameThis month we took on the work of First Nation painter Ron Disbrowe.
Ron is a Metis, from Edmonton Alberta. He uses acrylic paint on canvas and presents them in a highly unusual round format, before he started painting about ten years ago he was a recognised carver. He uses his attention to detail and his sculpting skills to create the frames in way that the stretching and finish is perfect.
The subject of Ron's vibrant work is often wildlife, in particular Polar Bears, and spectacular skies, in particular the Northern Lights.
We, initially, have five pieces:
Ron's work has a vibrancy and life that is quite unusual. With their round format, with diameters ranging from 17 to 36 inches, they make a striking work of art.
Somehow round seems natural, at one with nature, I am suprised I have not seen this method of canvas stretching before.
